Hello! Welcome to Hoops & Crosses. A place for me to share my love of cross stitch through fun, modern kits and patterns, many of which are inspired by some of my favourite films and TV shows.

About me…

I’m Lucy, a 30-something vegan cat lady with a lifelong love of crafting. I’ve been making things for as long as I can remember - cardboard models, trinket boxes, beaded jewellery… some crafty hobbies have come and gone but one thing that I always come back to is sewing. I’ve struggled with anxiety for most of my life, but I find cross stitch so calming, it can be a very mindful activity, and I would like to encourage others to try it to see if it helps them to relax too.

About Hoops & Crosses…

When you tell people you do cross stitch many of them imagine traditional pictures of cottages surrounded by flowers, or perhaps an alphabet sampler your grandmother made that still hangs in the downstairs bathroom! My love of cross stitch really took off when I discovered modern designs on websites like Etsy. Sometimes sweary, often referencing pop-culture, and always colourful. I decided I would try my hand at making my own patterns and have no shortage of TV and film quotes in my head to inspire me!

It’s always been a dream of mine to have my own creative business, but I feared I would fail and was reluctant to take the leap. Fortunately, I have had some amazing support and encouragement from friends and family, and they have given me the confidence to get Hoops & Crosses online in 2021.
